In this episode, we tour one of the most legendary and iconic theaters in Chicago- Second City! Known as the “first name” in improv comedy,  this venerable stage of hilarious, creative expression has been making audiences laugh since 1967!

Step inside and you’ll find yourself in a place where comedy legends are born before your eyes. Not only did Second City sketches inspire hit movies such as Wayne’s World and Blues Brother’s, but it has played an integral role in the talent seen on Saturday Night Live.   

In fact, in SNL’s premier show, John Belushi, Dan Akroyd, Gilda Radner and Bill Murray were all previous Second City cast members featured in this performance back 1975. Second City stands proudly at the forefront of sketch-comedy training programs; its classes have launched countless comedic talents into stardom through their wit & charm on screen.

  • 1970s: John Belushi, Gilda Radner, John Candy, Dan Akyrod, Bill Murray, Martin Short

In 2006, Jen worked at the ticket box office of the Huntington Theater Company in Boston, MA. In 1987, Stephen Colbert worked in the Box Office (for free!) at Second City in exchange for free classes and trainings

When In Rome… Jen and Cameron’s Attempt at Improv

Seeing as we were at the home of funny, we decided to try our hand at some improv. We had the pleasure of learning from experienced Second City Ensemble member Mark Campbell, and were bravely accompanied by Cameron Brenson – Chicago’s renowned activity master and creator of the famous @boredinchicago instagram account.

Together with our cast mates, we took part in an improv game named ‘Dr Know-it-All.’ Let us know how we did:

Tour of Lincoln Park Condo Under Renovation

We then headed over to a “construction zone” where we checked out a new listing with our team agent, Liz Zollner, who was getting the listing renovated and ready to sell. This 2 bed 2 bath condo is in the heart of Lincoln Park on the top floor, and under Liz’s guidance, has been transformed into a contemporary beauty!
